About the Event
The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust is hosting one of the most fun, cheerful, community-led trail runs this fall season. We keep it small so that everyone can have a good time, and so you can really load up on our incredible finisher's fall breakfast: think pumpkin muffins, apple cider donuts, hot coffee, cider, pancakes, bacon. We're not joking around about the breakfast!
Whether it's your first time running trails or you love to get out on midcoast Maine trails every week, there is a space for you at Thorne Head Trail Run!
Your sign up fee goes directly to supporting our local trail system and environmental education with the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust. With your support, we can keep conserving land and making amazing trails that inspire our community to get outside.
Thorne Head Trail Run will have it all: fun single track, nice wide trails, water views, and good company. We won't have winners but everyone will get a one-of-a-kind finishers mug. See you there!
Course Info:
This is a great trail run for beginners and trail lovers alike! It will start with a slight uphill on nice, wide Overlook Trail, then you peel off on Ridgerunner to join the Whiskeag Trail. After that you’ll enter a fun, technical section on the Narrows Trail that will be full of riverfront views, scenic stops, and funky trail features - feel free to stop and admire! The race will finish cruising back down the wide Overlook Trail so you can finish feeling confident and fast. The total distance will be 2.5 miles and 239 feet of elevation gain - short and speedy.
The reason Thorne Head is such a popular preserve is the lovely waterfront trails overlooking the confluence of the Kennebec River and Whiskeag Creek. At this fall race, you’ll be able to enjoy the river while winding through woodlands dotted with large hemlock, tall white pines, and red pines. All this in an area so close to Bath downtown - it’s a really special spot!
