The Sun Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K is just outside of St. George, Utah, finishing in the city of Santa Clara and Ivins. This race fills the need of a long run to break up the Winter Blues in a warm Spring like area of Utah's Dixie. The race starts in Veyo, Utah and runs down the Gunlock Road to Santa Clara. The route passes Gunlock Reservior and Southern Utah beauty. This is a Boston Qualifier during the off season so if you missed qualifying for Boston the year prior your training will be good towards this season or it would be great to kick off your marathon running season on a good downhill course.
This race is a tribute race for Dr. John Coles who ran his last marathon at the age of 80 years old (STG Marathon). He left a legacy of running for his family and countless others. He was never over the hill but on it.
Full Marathon :
The Full Marathon course is awesome. Starting in Veyo, Utah at the fairgrounds, this race heads down the Gunlock Road route passing Gunlock Reservoir and incredible views of Ivins and Santa Clara. This course is primarily downhill but does have a few rolling climbs. Be prepared to have a fast race with spectatular views of Southern Utah's red rock landscape, streams, lakes and more.
Aid stations every 2 miles starting at mile 3. Potty, water, electrolyte at all. Gels and fruit at select miles.
Boston Qualifier - Most marathons in Utah are Boston Qualifiers excluding a few. Being a Boston Qualifier is based on being a USATF certified course, meaning it was measured by USATF personally on highly calibrated bikes. Being a Boston Qualifier means you can qualify for the Boston Marathon on this course. If you have a qualifying time on this course and would like to apply it to the Boston Marathon use the code: (Coming Soon) when you register for Boston. They will verify your results with us to ensure you made it.
The Half Marathon course starts just after Gunlock Reservoir and runs to Santa Clara, Utah. This course is pirmarily downhill as well with views of Gunlock Canyon. This canyon has views of red rock formations and follows along Santa Clara River.

The 10K course is an out and back course. It starts at the finish for the Full and Half and runs 3.1 Miles out and back. This course is primarily residential with a view of Red Mountain. Aid stations are placed at 1.55 mile, 3.1 miles and 4.65 mile.
The 5K course is an out and back course. It starts at the finish for the Full and Half and runs 1.55 Miles out and back. This course is primarily residential. Aid stations are placed at 1.55 mile which is the turn around.
