Course Info:
The Southern Tour Ultra is a truly unique race held on private property along the untouched beauty of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, just outside Wilmington, NC. This land is a hidden gem of the Carolina Coast, where deer hunters annually enjoy its natural splendor. We are privileged to host this race on such historic and pristine terrain. Remarkably, George Washington’s historic Southern Tour once traversed this very property, where U.S. Highway 17 now stands.
The course is primarily flat, featuring natural rolling flows without steep climbs. However, the challenge lies in its variety: packed sand paths, single-track trails, and bush-hogged routes through dense woods. This dynamic terrain will keep runners engaged and rewarded with unparalleled scenery.
Racers will weave through a labyrinth of trees and winding paths, taking them from historical grounds where President Washington once stood to the open, sand-swept coastal plains. Imagine running beneath a canopy of vines and dense forest, emerging into marshland with breathtaking views. Along the way, you may encounter ospreys soaring above or deer crossing your path—immersing you in the pure essence of an Ultra experience.
The sweeping blue and orange skies of the Carolina coast will inspire and beckon you to keep going. This race is not just a run—it’s a journey into the heart of nature and history, promising memories as vivid as the views.
