Whether you’re a patient who is living with an ostomy (including ileostomies, colostomies, and urostomies), caring for a loved one with an ostomy, or considering a possible diversion surgery, our virtual Rush Ostomy Support Group offers an open forum where you can:

- Ask questions and discuss ostomy-related issues

- Hear from guest speakers including colon and rectal surgeons, urologists, gynecologists, pharmacists, dietitians, appliance vendors, ostomy nurses, and psychologists

- Find mutual support and camaraderie as you hear from other people living with an ostomy

Topics may include the following:

- Ostomy construction basics

- Advanced procedures

- Complications of ostomies including hernia and prolapse

- Pouching techniques and options

- Nutrition

- Coping techniques

- Specific conditions that may result in an ostomy, such as colon, rectal, prostate or other cancers, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, intestinal motility disorders, and related birth defects
