Join us for a weekend-long celebration and culmination of Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company’s Artist-in-Residence engagement COCA. This performance weekend builds a bridge between pre-professional and professional dance, featuring dancers of COCAdance sharing the stage—for the first time ever—with the professional artists of EVIDENCE, A Dance Company. Brown’s work, and the talent displayed onstage will inspire audiences of all ages.

COCA’s dance families have the incredible opportunity to engage with Brown’s masterful work through community masterclasses, Pre-Professional Division residencies, and a rare chance to observe a portion of the company’s creative development period at COCA.

COCA’s Artist-in-Residence engagement and performance with Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company is curated in collaboration with COCA’s Artistic Directors of Dance Antonio Douthit-Boyd and Kirven Douthit-Boyd. It affirms COCA’s commitment to progressing its approach to dance education and elevating the community’s dance theatre experience.

About the Artist:
Ronald K. Brown founded EVIDENCE, A Dance Company in 1985 in Brooklyn NY. He has set works on Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, Cleo Parker Robinson Ensemble, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Jeune Ballet d’Afrique Noire, Ko-Thi Dance Company, Philadanco and many others.

Speakers Series: Visioning Through Dance

Hear from Ronald K. Brown from EVIDENCE, A Dance Company as he discusses his artistic process and what audiences and artists can gain from engaging with the process of dance.

This session will precede or follow the 7:00PM performance.

About COCA’s Speaker Series:
COCA’s Speaker Series brings thought-provoking and inspiring work and conversation to our stage and your home in this unique opportunity to experience more than just the show. Throughout the COCA Presents season, we tap professional artists across arts disciplines to share their experiences, the stories behind their work, and their visions for the future of performing arts.

While the performing arts community has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, COCA’s Speaker Series celebrates some of the many artists still hard at work; the visionaries keeping the stage light on.
