Rocktown Beer and Music Festival

Saturday, Apr 20, 2019 at 3:00pm

Turner Pavilion
228 S Liberty St
Harrisonburg, VA 22801

$22 – $75

Every year we celebrate the quality and diversity of America’s craft beer culture. Each brewery is handpicked and will be represented at the festival by a member of that brewery. The breweries bring their flagship brew as well as a seasonal or rare beer, and with 60+ beers to sample even savvy beer fans will find something new to get excited about. Hard ciders are also included for sampling. View Breweries

There’s a wide world of music out there and each year our stage showcases some of the best performances from local and nationally touring bands. Over the years we’re proud to have featured The War On Drugs, Nikki Lane, The Steel Wheels, Bronze Radio Return, Chatham County Line, Yarn, The Hackensaw Boys, No BS! Brass Band, Snarky Puppy, Love Canon and more. You better bring your dancing shoes!

Music Lineup:

Kat Wright

Kat Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful; gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse”. Add to that voice enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. There’s soul flowing in and out of her rock ‘n’ roll with a serpentine seduction. Some of soul music’s sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache’s apology. It’s funky in spots and beautiful all over. And it hurts a little … like it should.

The Accidentals

The Accidentals kicked off 2018 as major label artists, having released their debut album, Odyssey, with Sony Masterworks in August of 2017. They followed the album release with two-hundred days of touring nationally, sync placement with Turner Classic Movies and FOX sports, and a RAM Trucks BANDvan #tourtough commercial.

Press that have followed the band for some time call them “genre melding” and caution that you should try to catch a couple shows before deciding what they are all about. Every night they create a set list specifically for their audience. Billboard Magazine says, “The Accidentals display a genre-hopping range of influences and some smart songwriting skills to go with their abundant musical chops” and PopMatters Magazine says, you can’t define them by comparison to any one band, comparing them to a mashup of influences including, “The Beatles, The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Led Zeppelin, Ani Difranco, Neko Case, Brandi Carlile, etc.” NPR says, “they display equal interest in the focused musical forms of indie rock and pop and the expansive potential of orchestral arrangements, jam band open-endedness and impressionistic singer-songwriter expression.”

Bryan Elijah Smith

Bryan Elijah Smith is an ‘Alternative-Americana’ singer and songwriter based out of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. With over 1,000 songs penned & 10 independent releases, Smith is creating a self-produced legacy that began with his first song at the age of 18. The music cradles all things ‘Americana’ at heart & at hand without shying away from a truly uninhibited pop sensibility. Crossing a wide array of genres, what gets produced has been compared to the likes of everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Kings of Leon. Smith recently won 2nd place in the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest 2018 where he was 1 of 12 songwriters chosen out of 1,000+ entries.
