Are you at risk for Diabetes? 34 million Americans have diabetes, while 88 million Americans have pre-diabetes. The Diabetes Treatment Center at St. Francis Hospital invites those at risk for diabetes to attend a course designed for prevention. A person is at risk for diabetes if they:
- Are over 45 years old
- Are Black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander
- Have a parent, brother or sister with diabetes
- Are overweight/obese
- Are physically inactive
- Have high blood pressure or take medicine for high blood pressure
- Have low HDL cholesterol and/or high triglycerides
- Had diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes)
- Have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
- Have been diagnosed with Prediabetes Our educators will walk you through the lifestyle changes needed to prevent diabetes
