The Original Gullah Festival of South Carolina, Inc. values education, family and so much more. We want our visitors to learn about the Gullah culture so they can it with others. That's why Lest We Forget is such an important part of the festival.
This is a walk-through educational platform offering the history, customs and culture of Gullah. This event takes place on Friday and Saturday of the Festival weekend from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The Ultimate Gullah Experience! VIP TENT FOR UP TO 4 ($1500) Saturday & Sunday (1) Includes 10x10 Tent for up to 4 people, All White Attire Party Tickets, 1 Parking Pass, 1 Free meal per day (1 Sat & 1 Sun), Decoration Day Play tickets (Sat 3pm), Gullah Tour (Sunday 10:30am), Unlimited bottles of water and Swag Bags that include an Official Gullah Festival T-shirt!
11-12:30: African American Quilt Making Workshop Participants will learn basic quilt-making skills and depart with the beginning of their personal Gullah-Geechee Quilt. We hope you complete your quilt at home and proudly display your keepsake. Location: Gullah Village - Workshop Area B
11-12:30: Gullah Shekere Instrument Workshop Participants will learn the art of crafting their very own She'ke're instrument, which is theirs to keep and show off throughout the festival and for years to come. Location: Gullah Village - Workshop Area A
1-2:30: Drumming Workshop Each workshop participant will engage in hands-on drumming and learn a brief history about drums. Facilitator: Samuel Jones Location: Gullah Village - Workshop Area B
1-2:30: Sweetgrass Basket Weaving Workshop Workshop participants will learn the techniques of Gullah sweetgrass basket weaving. Facilitator: Mary Graham Grant Location: Gullah Village - Workshop Area A
Decoration Day Play (1) Join Aunt Pearlie Sue & The Gullah Kinfolk as they celebrate Decoration Day. Step back in time an’ experience Memorial Day like it ustah' be. Cost: $45 Online, $50 at the Door/Gate - Children 12 & under $15 May 25th 3PM Location: USCB Center for the Arts
Gullah Tour The approximately two hour Tour will take you to various points of interest in the lowcountry to include Port Royal, Lady's and St Helena Islands and certain areas in the City of Beaufort. Tours are scheduled after registration. Cost: On-line ($45) (1) $50 At the Gate (1)
