About the Event
Each year on Veterans Day weekend in Washington DC, Historic Programs honors our veterans through the National Veterans Day Ceremony. This musical tribute begins on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Music and wreath laying ceremonies honor veterans of the Vietnam and Korean wars. A processional led our Veterans, marching bands and JROTC cadets begins at the Lincoln Memorial and ends at the World War II Memorial. An official wreath laying ceremony and concert takes place at each memorial to pay tribute to our veterans by remembering their service and sacrifice. History comes to life as all in attendance listen to first hand accounts from those who served and helped to preserve the freedom that each of us enjoy today.
We invite the Elks Organization and their families to join us as part of National Veterans Day Ceremony Tour. This program will provide an opportunity to participate in this important ceremony, in honor of those who made the sacrifice to preserve liberty and freedom during WWII, The Korean War, and The Vietnam War. This event also pays tribute to all those who have worn the uniform in service to this country and the families who support them.
In addition to participating in this important event, the tour will include visits to significant sites throughout the Nation's Capital including: Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials; US Capitol Building; National Archives; Smithsonian Museums; Vietnam, Korean, and WWII war memorials; Arlington National Cemetery. The tour will conclude with dinner cruise on the Potomac River.
