You can enjoy thousands of Sandhill Cranes, ducks, and geese flying against a backdrop of mountain scenery. Raptors will adorn the power poles and owls will be sitting with their young. A visit to the Monte Vista Crane Festival is an opportunity to see an amazing natural spectacle as well as experience a unique rural community.
8:00am – 10:00am: Morning Crane Tour Expert-led bus tour to Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge to learn all about Sandhill Cranes. Bring warm clothes and water.
9:00am - 2:00pm: Craft/Nature Fair at Ski Hi Park
10:30am – 12:30am: Hawks Aloft Raptor Tour Experts from Hawks Aloft will lead a bus tour to view and learn about local raptors.
10:00am – 1:00pm: Scott Miller Archeological Tour Bus tour to visit this rich archaeological site with a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service archaeologist. Be prepared for a moderate 1.5-mile walk over uneven ground. In case of bad weather or snow on the ground, a talk with artifacts to view will be at a refuge building. Bring water.
