Mitchell Point Hike And HCRH State Trail Bike

Saturday, Jun 1, 2019 at 9:00am

Mitchell Point Trailhead
Hood River, OR 97031

Join leader Steve Carples for a dual-sport adventure filled with wildflowers and magnificent views up and down the Gorge. We’ll start with a short but steep hike to the summit of Mitchell Point. After our descent, we’ll drive to Hood River and take a bike ride on the paved, restored segment of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, next to basalt cliffs with beautiful lookouts through Mosier Twin Tunnels. In Mosier, we’ll stop at a local restaurant for lunch before heading the five miles back to our cars (optional; all participants are responsible for their own purchases).

This will be a strenuous day of activity. The hike can be steep and slippery in sections, so sturdy hiking boots and sure-footedness is required. The bike trail ascends gently and continuously up 480 feet before descending at a similar grade into the town of Mosier (and the same upon return to Hood River).
