From a poolside cocktail to dancing alongside live music, or enjoying a moment of relaxation with beach yoga, the Memorial Weekend at Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers guests of all ages an opportunity to dig their toes in the sand, and welcome the summer season with a smile.

Camp Kiawah

Night Heron Park Pavilion
Camp Kiawah is our themed day camp dedicated to making every day memorable for your child! Each session is themed with games, crafts, and snacks–guaranteed to be tons of fun! For ages 3-10. Birding for Beginners
8:30am – 10am
Are you interested in the intriguing world of birding? Join a Naturalist to learn the basics of birding and discover the natural beauty of Kiawah Island. You will explore various types of habitats to learn which birds are found where and what to look for when identifying each species.

Turtles’ Nest Art Studio: Open Studio
9am – 4pm: Night Heron Park
Join us throughout the month for ceramic bunny painting. Our open studio offers an extensive selection of craft options suitable for families, adults and children. Unleash your imagination as you delve into pottery painting, shark tooth and shell necklace making, wood crafts, canvas painting, and much more.

Prices for each project will vary based on your chosen masterpiece(s). Kiln projects, such as pottery painting, are available for pick up 2-3 days after completion. Shipping is available. Marsh Kayaking
10am – 12pm
If you’re an independent adventurer and like to set your own pace, marsh kayaking gives you the freedom you’re looking for. This tour leads you through the creeks to reveal what curiosities the marsh has to offer and is geared toward those who are looking to get a little exercise.

This trip uses single kayaks. Moderate physical ability required. $65/person. Resort guests and KICA Members: $60/person. All participants 8 – 11 years old: $50/person. Please call the Nature Center for reservations 843.768.6001.

Gator Walk
11am – 12pm
Explore the amazing life of the American Alligator, as you take a walk with a Naturalist. You will learn how alligators survive and thrive on Kiawah Island as we search for gators of all sizes. This is a great tour for the entire family!

$20/participant. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations required, please call 843.768.6001. 24-hour cancellation policy. Subject to availability.

Escape Box Experience: Lowcountry Investigator
12:30pm – 1:45pm: Night Heron Park Stage
If you’re looking for a program you can really sink your teeth into, sign up for our tabletop escape experience! You will be tasked with using fun and factual information about alligators posted around the room to solve a series of clues provided at your team table. Do you have what it takes to chomp down on the solution that will get you into the naturalist’s locked case before time is up?

Admission is $50/family. Minimum of 3 teams to run event and a maximum of 6 players per team. Advanced reservations required, call 843.768.6001. 24-hour cancellation policy applies. Ages 8+ recommended. Schedule subject to change.

Family Kayaking
1pm – 3pm
Bring the family along and experience the unique coastal habitat of the Kiawah River! Led by a professional Naturalist, you and your family can learn all about the beautiful ecology of our tidal estuary from the comfort of a tandem boat. Be sure to look out for dolphins, birds, and even turtles as your Naturalist guides you through your curiosities!

Geared toward adults and older children who can kayak for a full 1.5 to 2 hrs. Participants must be 8 years old or older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Youth Archery Lesson
2pm – 3pm: Night Heron Park
Join us on the archery range to try your skills. Enjoy a staff instructed lesson with various stationary targets and interactive games! Great for Beginners.

$45/person. For ages 8-12. Participants must be able to confidently pull a 15lb bow string. Reservations required, please call 843.768.6001. A 24-hour cancelation policy applies. Subject to availability.

Shelling Expedition
2pm – 4pm
South Carolina’s beautiful coastal ecosystem provides a variety of unique and interesting marine mollusks. Accessible only by boat, our Naturalists will escort you to a remote barrier island known for its abundance of shells. Important to our delicate coastline, we encourage photographs and apply shell-collecting limits to help conserve the beach and its inhabitants for future generations.

Multiple parties on board. Pricing: $75 per adult, $65 per child (ages 3-11) with a trip minimum of $450 (1-6ppl). Private options available by request. Reservations required, please call 843.768.6001. 48-hour cancellation policy.

Family Craft: Tie-Dye
4:30pm – 5:30pm: Outside Turtles’ Nest Art Studio, Night Heron Park
Join us on the deck in Night Heron Park for a family fun craft that is different every day! Create your very own Tie-Dye shirt. With an array of patterns available, select from our vibrant rainbow of colors and construct a t-shirt that is uniquely yours.
$20/shirt. No reservations are required. Schedule subject to change.

Mini Golf
6pm – 9pm: Night Heron Park
Join us for an evening of family fun at our Mini Golf Extravaganza! Putt your way through 9 dynamic holes with exciting challenges and obstacles.

Lobby Bar at The Sanctuary

Stop into the Lobby Bar to sip on their special holiday Sangria, or try an infused cocktail to celebrate the start of summer!

Loggerhead Grill at The Sanctuary

Kick off the summer with a weekend of fun at Loggerhead Grill! Join us on Thursday evening with live music from Holy City Steel. Friday night is perfect for families with our Dive-In Movie featuring a viewing of The Incredibles. The fun continues on Saturday evening with live music from Chris Dodson! In addition to their full menu, Loggerhead bar will also be serving a specialty cocktail themed just for the Memorial weekend holiday.

Everyone is welcome to participate and enjoy a friendly competition with family and friends. Complimentary, no reservations are required.
