About the Event
On Friday, New Bern Civic Theatre presents: Home for the Holidays, an evening of stories and songs with professional performer Kristin Wetherington. Featuring a roster of holiday music from classics such as "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "O, Holy Night" to contemporary hits like "Let it Go" and "Run, Run Rudolph," this show is a perfect way to enhance holiday celebrations.
The show is a live music revue appropriate for all ages. Home for the Holidays is not simply a catchy title - Kristin is, in fact, a native of eastern North Carolina who has become a successful New York City-based performer with a master's of fine arts in theatre from Harvard University. She is a three-time Broadway World Award and SALT Award winner for her performance as Lucille in the musical Parade with the critically acclaimed Finger Lakes Theater. Broadway World notes that "her well-trained voice shines," while The New York Times and Theatre Mania say she "delivers" and "unleashes a powerful soprano."
Among her many credits Krisitn also appeared as Amneris in the Broadway Touring company of Elton John's Aida and has been a member of the USO Show Troupe, still performing for our military and their families through the USO. She has shared the stage with pop sensation Tori Kelly and country music star Phil Vassar as well as some of the country's top symphonies, including the Philadelphia Pops.
At The Athens in New Bern, Kristin will be joined by live musicians and an ensemble of singer/dancers delighting audiences and filling the stage with reminders that home can certainly be a physical place to return to, but it also is that place deep within us where peace and joy dwells no matter the time of year or location. Don't miss this very special Encore Series National event at New Bern Civic Theatre, sure to brighten the season.
