The Historical Society Museum is featuring a FREE special exhibit, a display of World War II clothing along with photos and artifacts. Fulton County sent more than a thousand men to the war. There are photos of more than 100 veterans on the walls along with many artifacts from the European and Pacific theaters. Fulton County sent more than a thousand men to the war. Stop by the prominent 1793 limestone Inn along Lincoln Way East in McConnellsburg and appreciate the heritage of our community with Historical Society publications, art prints, maps, high school yearbook DVDs and other items available for purchase. The Fulton County Historical Society Museum Annex will have the official opening of several new displays. The Overly-Raker display, which includes items manufactured by the Overly-Raker Company along with dolls hand-made by Freda Raker, was moved from the Fulton House. The Native Americans in Fulton County display includes artifacts found in Fulton County. Two more permanent “Main Street” displays in addition to the Fulton Democrat, Stoner Tin Shop, and Stoner Furniture Shop that opened in fall 2018. The new exhibits are a County Post Office and Store roughly based on the Saluvia, PA post office and store and the Indian Queen Hotel, based on the former Indian Queen Hotel in Hustontown, PA. They will be furnished with a collection of items from Dublin Mills, Diven’s Store in Knobsville, the old Harry Johnston Store, the Harris Hotel, and the Washington House. The Indian Queen will also feature a rotation of the original Brian Tucker paintings of Historical Society prints. Other displays include Black History in Fulton County, Fulton County Grist Mills, Fulton County Courthouse display, Fulton County Transportation, and a map of the Southern Pennsylvania Rail Road in and around Fulton County. Historical Society publications, art prints, maps, high school yearbook DVDs and other items are available for purchase. Stop by the Museum Annex at 211 Lincoln Way East in McConnellsburg for FREE exhibits and appreciate the heritage of our community with Historical Society publications, art prints, maps, high school yearbook DVDs and other items available for purchase.
