About the Event
Join the Friends of the Saint Augustine Amphitheatre for an evening of holiday cheer at its 2nd Annual Holiday Celebration. This festive fete features a showing of the holiday classic, “Home Alone,” as well as face painting, snow, fun activities, and Santa Claus. This free event is hosted by the Friends of the Saint Augustine Amphitheatre (FOSAA), a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization created in 2009 committed to keeping the St. Augustine Amphitheatre a place where residents are welcomed. Hosted at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340C A1A South in St. Augustine, the gates open at 5pm, with the movie beginning at 7pm.
“FOSAA is all about fostering community, and this is such a fun way to bring the community together for a common good,” says Mark Ramirez, President of the FOSAA Board of Directors. “Our board and volunteers love seeing the kids playing in the snow, smiling with painted faces, and cheering when the movie hero finally beats the bad guys. And while this is a free event, we encourage everyone to be generous with non-perishable goods for the food drive to support the St. Francis House.”
The 2nd Annual Holiday Celebration features family-friendly fun for a great cause. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre’s gates open at 5pm. The first 300 kids receive a free t-shirt, while everyone has a chance to win great door prizes, including a guitar signed by American singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw. Once inside, kids can have their faces painted and complete the look with fairy hair, play in the snow (actual snow in Florida!), and enjoy other fun activities. Setting the holiday mood are the Flagler College Carolers, who will stroll throughout the event from 5-6:45pm, sharing their joyful songs. The Festival of Trees will be beautifully displayed on the St. Augustine Amphitheatre’s Front Porch, featuring themed Christmas trees and wreaths. Guests can bid on their favorite tree or wreath during the silent auction from 5pm until 8:30pm. Proceeds benefit the St. Francis House and Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center.
The holiday classic “Home Alone” begins at 7pm. Rated PG, “Home Alone” features Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McAllister, who must defend his home from a pair of bungling burglars after being left home alone by his family. Kids can snack on free popcorn and hot chocolate. The event is free, so you can keep the change, ya’ filthy animal, but please bring one – or more – canned or non-perishable goods for the Holiday Food Drive, hosted in collaboration with the St. Francis House. The St. Francis House is a housing-focused program that meets families and single adults’ basic needs while providing services that help plan for a self-sufficient future.
We want to hear from you if you have an event to share or updates to this event.
