AZ Gallery, in conjunction with the St Paul Winter Carnival, is excited to announce the fifth annual Fire & Ice Winter Carnival Art Show. The show will be held at AZ Gallery in the Northern Warehouse and is meant to celebrate art and Minnesota artists during the nation’s oldest and largest celebration of winter.
Open to artists in all mediums. Entries must be original work.
The title of the show is Fire & Ice. You may interpret that in whatever way you want. Literally it represents the forces of winter battling the promises of spring. Perhaps works that concentrate on the colors or emotions of fire and ice. Or pieces that represent calmness or struggle. And of course, works celebrating winter, the Winter Carnival itself or the City of St Paul. Must be suitable for all ages.
The show will run January 9 through February 21, 2021. The actual Winter Carnival runs January 28 through February 7, 2021. Because of the pandemic, the hours of AZ Gallery have been reduced to Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 2 pm. However, we will be working with the Winter Carnival to be open the gallery additional hours on dates and times that coordinate with other Carnival activities that may be nearby, such as those at CHS Field. We also plan to create a virtual gallery online to showcase the entries. The show will be promoted as a Winter Carnival event.
Submit an entry form and images of the works you are entering to email@example.com by midnight, Monday, December 21, 2020. Both 2D and 3D work will be accepted.
Files of your images should be labeled in the following format using your 2 or 3 letter initials and the name of your entry:
Initials_Name 1, Initials_Name 2, Initials_Name 3 (for example: TR_Winter Wonderland)
$20 for the first piece and $15 for each additional piece. Up to three pieces may be submitted. Entry fees are non-refundable even if the work is not accepted in the show.
You may print off the entry form and mail it to AZ Gallery, 308 Prince St, Suite 130, St Paul, MN 55101 with a check for your entry fee. Or during gallery hours you can come in and drop off the form and pay your entry fee with a credit card. (Sat & Sun 10-2) You will still need to submit your images via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Judging & Prizes:
A panel of judges will jury and judge the entries. We anticipate accepting 100 images for the show, depending on size. The show will utilize the complete AZ Gallery. Notifications will be sent the week of December 28th. Cash prizes will be awarded: $100 for First place, $75 for Second place and $50 for Third place.
Delivering & Picking Up your work:
Deliver: Sunday, January 3, 10 am – 4 pm or Monday, January 4, 4 pm – 7 pm
Pickup: Sunday, February 21, 10 am – 4 pm or Monday, February 22, 4 pm – 7 pm
Works on paper must be framed and protected under glass or plexiglass.
Paintings should be framed. Gallery wrapped canvases are allowed if neatly done.
All work must be within 48” x 48”.
2D work must have wire for hanging. No sawtooth hangers except for wrapped canvases.
AZ Gallery cannot be responsible for loss or damage to artwork.
Sales: Sold work must remain on display for the duration of the show. AZ Gallery retains a 30% commission on sales (20% for AZ Gallery members). Sales tax will be collected and paid by AZ Gallery.
