I’ve already got reservations at the Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch area in Sonoita! They will be rustic, with shared bathrooms, so not for everyone: http://researchranch.audubon.org/landing/about-us/facilities ($40 per person per night if you bring your own linens.) But this will be a new spot and an adventure! We’ll organize shared meals to take full advantage of being on a remote site. Plan on birding on the way down and back, as well as spending a full, but perhaps leisurely day, exploring the Ranch. We’ll visit a variety of habitats over 3 days, including Sweetwater Wetlands outside of Tucson, Las Cienegas north of Sonoita, and the Patagonia area on our return. We can hope for a variety of migrants and early summering species in the warbler, vireo, flycatcher, oriole and tanager families, and, if we’re really lucky, some Montezuma quail at the Ranch. Limit 7 participants.
