Tomoshibi: Glass Works by Kazuki Takizawa
Los Angeles-based artist Kazuki Takizawa uses glass’s dual ability to be transparent and opaque, durable and fragile, as a metaphor for living with bipolar disorder and to destigmatize mental illness. In his first solo museum exhibition ‘Tomoshibi’, meaning lamp or small light in Japanese, Takizawa stages his elaborately crafted glass vessels and installations in a darkened gallery, where lighting and shadows become integral aspects of the works.
Exhibition Date: February 6, 2021 — September 12, 2021.
