Klompching Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of newly-released artworks, by artist Odette England.

The exhibition showcases a selection of artworks from the Love Notes series, that consists of two parts.

First, we share the small-scale ‘repair’ photographs; which are hand-and-torn archival prints on newsprint, made from expired 6x7 film negatives, and hinged with linen archival tape. About the artworks, Odette England says: “These photographs of my family’s former farmlands and surrounding areas are hand-torn, intermixed and/or repaired. Repairs mimic the improvisation of the farmer and the frail existence of agricultural production.”

Second, we present two unique gelatin silver prints, made from a hand-folded and expired 6x7 film negatives (expired in the 1990s). These are printed on an Ilford warm-tone glossy fiber-based paper, and handwashed with selenium archival wash. “These images, taken in and around my family’s former farmlands lost to near-bankruptcy, are made from negatives I fold and send to my parents. They ‘read’ the negatives, refold them, and return them to me. The negative, materially and emotionally, becomes part of the photograph’s story.”—Odette England.

Exhibition Date: October 24, 2020 - February 26, 2021
