The Asheville Area Arts Council is excited to welcome artist Valeria Watson back into the Front Gallery at the Refinery. She is continuing to explore the space and place of an immersive, retail redefinition and concept. Bring the forest inside. Enter the primordial village represented on the brown papered walls: walls littered with bits and pieces of truth shining through time.
“This mythical space represents my understanding, comprehension, respect, practice and love of Norse Mythology. I am exploring the profundity of the Norse worldview represented here in cloth, sticks, drawings, sculptures, racks of clothing for sale that have been buried in the forest and prayed over for at least three years. The hand of nature and it’s natural dye, what is called mold, colores, ages, wrinkles and krinkles the garments; some of which are for sale and others samples for couture customers.”
“You will see physical memories, coming into balance through time. Well, that is what I see, beyond the walls and limits of our rational minds traps.”
