Drawn entirely from ASU Art Museum's permanent collection, “DinnerWhere” highlights a variety of plates, cups and bowls, and even a life-size dinner table. The exhibition and it’s title refers to the ways in which these objects encourage critical conversations around national identity, ceremony, nutrition and food access in the United States. Artists featured include Claydies, Eddie Dominguez, Marilyn Lysohir, Russell Wright, Isaac Scott, Justin Rothshank and the Democratic Cup Project.
The objects featured in “DinnerWhere” have communal and symbolic associations with coming together for meals. For some, these artworks inspire memories of the place where we nourish ourselves, celebrate important milestones, share experiences and create new understandings through conversation. For others, the works in the exhibition can be a reminder of cultural assimilation and the loss of traditions.
What will you bring to the table to shape the future?
To ensure the well-being of all our visitors and staff, we ask that you please comply with our new ASU and city guidelines to keep all of us safe. Reserve your free timed-entry tickets and learn more about our new guidelines before visiting.
