O’Neill is a multi-media artist who creates metalwork sculptures constructed from recycled steel, clay, and glass. Titled “Cocoon,” the sculpture that won the People’s Choice Award was crafted in 2018 to mark her retirement from General Motors. O'Neill has sold her artwork since 2014 at downtown Farmington’s ART on the GRAND art fair and was a past winner of the Mayor's Award. She has also participated in the SCRAP Welding Festival and Funky Ferndale Art Fair.
The Artist Talk on March 5 features an opportunity to hear about O'Neill's process and influences, and offers time to speak directly with the artist. The Public Art Program at Farmington Hills City Hall reflects the goal of the City’s Cultural Arts Division to bring art into the daily lives of citizens and employees. Most of the artwork is available for sale and allows local artists to have greater exposure and a bigger client base. The artwork, which is on loan to the City for two years, features the work of 63 talented artists from Farmington Hills and surrounding communities.
