This exhibition offers a glimpse into the artist’s early and recent work with a complete retrospective from 1977 through 2020.

A McAllen native and graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Seale’s work and vision has evolved over the years from film photography in the 70’s and 80’s into a unique vision of the world through slit scan photography. His invention of a modern, digital version of the panoramic camera gives rise to a technique that has gone far beyond a visual curiosity.

Instead of mirroring the world as we know it, Seale believes this camera records a hidden reality. Like a microscope or telescope, the machine expands our ability to perceive more about the nature of reality. The apparent distortions in the images all happen in-camera as part of the process.

Exhibition Date: January 14, 2021 - March 27, 2021.
