Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present "Adventures,” paintings by Renee Post, in exhibition in the Community Room during the month of July. The show will be on view from July 2 to July 30, 2019.

Ms. Post, a graphic designer and retired teacher, lives in Whitehouse Station. She paints both with brushes and pallet knives, and sometimes squeezes the paint directly out of the tube onto the canvas. “To me, art is an adventure,” she says, “I experiment and explore with brushstrokes, color, texture and lighting. The exploration is always moving forward. Starting with a figure or perhaps a shape or lines, my approach to painting is expressive. Feelings, empathy, and humanity drive me to respond to the flow and viscosity of the paint. The conveyance of a feeling, a belief or questioning of the same, is paramount to my creative process. Looking at art is a dialogue between the painting and the viewer. For me, it is exciting and risk-taking, like an exploration of a different shore.”

Ms. Post has been painting for 43 years. Twenty-one years ago, she began a rewarding career teaching high school students at Bridgewater Raritan High School. This past June, she retired from teaching to devote more time to her lifelong passion for art. Prior to teaching, she was a graphic designer and then an art director for leading advertising agencies in New York City. Her last assignment was the re-design of the Central Park Zoo gallery as well as all zoo graphics for displays, animal environments and literature.

Ms. Post earned her BA from Stonybrook University and later a Masters of Art Teaching from Montclair State University. She explored art at the School of Visual Arts, The Arts Students League, the Chicago Art Institute, and the Aimone School in Maine. Her work has been shown at the 92nd St. Y and in various galleries and public spaces. In 1990, she had a one-woman show in Dalien, China.

The show will be open for viewing during regular library hours, unless a meeting is in progress. For more information on the show, call the library at 908-766-0118.
