Curated by independent curator C. M. Turner (Camden, ME), Beacon is a conceptually driven group exhibition exploring objects, subjects, spaces, and ideologies that guide us through everyday life. Featuring ten artists of diverse backgrounds working with lens-based media, Beacon prompts viewers to consider the ways in which outside forces draw our attention and actions. From wayfinding to advertising, politics to place-making, Beacon explores both the unseen and well-known forces impacting ordinary existence.

The works on view in Beacon include traditionally composed and executed photography, photographic installation, lightboxes, video projection, and photograchic sculpture that address the conceptual underpinnings of the exhibition, while providing a broad survey of the types of artwork currently being produced under the banner of “photography.” Participating artists include Noel W Anderson (New York, NY); Bruce Bennett (Jersey City, NJ); Britni Bicknaver, Elese Daniel, Emily Hanako Momohara (all Cincinnati, OH); Justin Hodges (Americus, GA); Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos (Cairo, EG/Paris, FR); Cody Perkins (Burlington, KY); Jared Thorne (Columbus, OH); and Nicole White (Oakland, CA).

Location: Entire Gallery.

Admission is free. Donations are welcome. No reservations are required.
