Celebrating the Earth through cinema

We are nourishing the movement toward a more-harmonious relationship to our environment from the ground up. We are a diverse group of filmmakers, artists, scientists, and activists who care deeply about the Earth. We seek to change the content we celebrate and how it’s celebrated.
The films are carefully selected to represent a broad range of interpretations of an Earthly. We seek truth, integrity, inclusion and wisdom; to be active listeners in the ever-evolving story of the Earth.

The Earth Day Film Festival is a living, growing event and is itself a creative expression and offering to the planet. Our festival creates an immersive experience  to honor the multifaceted nature of our journey on Earth. The Earth Day Film Festival of years past has included both intellectually focused events such as panel-discussions, workshops, talks from industry professions, as well as heart-centered experienced like nature walks, performance art, live music and a vegan cooking demo. Films have screened in traditional and well-known theaters as well as desert, mountain, and water landscapes. We embrace our receptive capacity to our environment.

"Beaver Believers"
Join us for the opening event of the Earth Day Film Festival. This Free event is a screening of The Beaver Believers (64 min) followed by presenations from local and nationally recognized ecologists utilizing the techniques discussed in the film. Come learn how Beavers can help restore the ecosystem of Butte County!

Featured Film: The Beaver Believers shares the urgent yet whimsical story of an unlikely cadre of activists - a biologist, a hydrologist, a botanist, an ecologist, a psychologist, and a hairdresser - who share a common goal: restoring the North American Beaver. The Beaver Believers encourage us to embrace a new paradigm for managing our western lands, one that seeks to partner with the natural world rather than overpower it.

As a keystone species, beaver enrich their ecosystems, creating the biodiversity, complexity, and resiliency our watersheds need to absorb the impacts of climate change. Beavers can show us the way and even do much of the work for us, if only we can find the humility to trust in the restorative power of nature and our own ability to play a positive role within it. Shot in 8 western US states, Mexico, and Canada, through desert drought, raging wild fires, spring floods, and the peaceful calm of wetlands, this film will change the way you think about climate change and inspire you to take a bite out of the challenges we face, one stick at a time.
