Crown of Maine Balloon Fest

Aroostook County is steeped in ballooning history. In 1978, the Double Eagle II launched from Presque Isle and made the first successful crossing of the Atlantic.  In 1984, Joe Kittinger became the first person to make the solo Transatlantic balloon journey, launching from Caribou.  In 2013 Jonathan Trappe launched his attempted trans-Atlantic balloon flight using 365 individual helium balloons and established a world record for distance, when he landed in Newfoundland. 


5:30am: Mass Ascension - Balloon flights are weather dependent

4:00pm - 9:00pm: Craft Fair and Vendors Open - Enjoy the food, shop for homemade items, and pick up a keepsake from the festival.

5:00pm: Tickets for Tethered Ride, Go On Sale - First Come, First Served.

5:30pm: Mass Ascension - Balloon flights are weather dependent

5:30pm - 8:30pm: Live Music - Heath Bartley On the stage behind the Forestry Building

6:30pm: Tethered Balloon Rides - A great chance to get a small taste of riding high in the sky. Lineup begins at 6pm

Dusk: Moon Glow - View the beauty of hot air balloons glowing in the dark
