2.30 And 8.30 pm: Support Group for Men

by Ellen Fairey
Directed by Courtney Sale

Every Thursday is Guys’ Night for a group of pals who gather to vent about stalled careers, dashed romances, and other middle-aged struggles. When an unexpected visitor crashes the party, their notions of what it means to be a man in America are suddenly upended. A hilarious exploration of what happens when society’s new normal, doesn’t seem so normal anymore. Ellen Fairey compassionately dissects the ever-changing role of gender in today’s culture — and proves that understanding is sometimes found in the least likely of places.

2.00 And 8.00 pm: A Welcome Guest: A Psychotic Fairy Tale

by Michael Weller
World Premiere / Directed by Ed Herendeen

A guest comes to stay in your home. You discover he has permission from the authorities to live there indefinitely. Then you learn that he somehow owns your house and you’re his guest. That’s not right. But are the authorities ever wrong? Sometimes you just have to take things into your own hands. And if someone gets hurt, well, it’s not the end of the world… or is it? A Welcome Guest explores intolerance, insanity, and how beautiful it is to know that underneath we’re all one big happy family, for better or (possibly) for worse.

Set in a Long Island hospital in 1945, Chester denies the extent of his injuries as Dr. Phillip Cotton struggles to heal his unusual patient. Joseph Dougherty skillfully examines the enduring power of the human mind when it is faced with seemingly insurmountable horror.
