Lauded for virtuosic musicality as much as technical precision, the United States Marine Band kicks off the symphonic portion of our Beethoven at 250 celebration, presenting Beethoven's symphonies in unique and rarely-heard arrangements for chamber ensemble. Never has Beethoven's monumental “Eroica” sounded so intimate and colorful as in this performance by flute and piano trio. A transcription for wind nonet of Symphony no. 7 reveals new depths in the work's inherent lyricism and playfulness.
