TOWER Made in America
BARBER Violin Concerto
BARTÓK Concerto for Orchestra

What does it mean to be an American composer? Conductor Laureate Leonard Slatkin explores this idea. Joan Tower’s Made in America celebrates a life of opportunity in the United States. Bartók, an American immigrant, fought darkness with his brilliant Concerto for Orchestra. Violinist Simone Porter soars in Barber’s concerto, a “lush landscape that is very sensual.”
