ColemanCollective is designing a live performance to be pre-recorded and presented virtually by Tribeca Performing Arts Center. This production will exclusively feature the collective’s co-artistic directors, Cain Coleman and Issa Perez, as The Dragon Sisters.
The Dragon Sisters are a Brooklyn-based gender-bending entertainment duo, known for their spell bounding performances and electrifying personas. This digital premier, sponsored by the CUNY Dance Initiative, will blend classical forms with hip hop style, through an exploration of The Dragon Sister’s original choreography and music, including their debut EP The Fine Print. Coleman and Perez plan to explore their influence, relationships, and identity through their non-binary perspective on gender and sexuality, using the combined magic of theater and film.
Cain Coleman grew up in the South (Richmond, Virginia) and Issa Perez is a native New Yorker (from The Bronx). They met at North Carolina School of the Arts back in 2009, then both transferred to SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, and have been working and living together ever since.
