Community College of Baltimore County is pleased to present the CCBC Dance Company’s Spring 2021 Dance Concert at 7 p.m. This virtual presentation can be seen on the CCBC Performing Arts YouTube channel

The CCBC Dance Company is in residence at CCBC Essex, under the artistic direction of Melinda Blomquist and Associate Director Kristi Schaffner. This year's virtual performance, created as Dance for the Camera, will feature the culmination of the company’s residency with Carolyn Dorfman Dance. The concert will also include new work by CCBC Dance Program faculty. This program is made possible in part by support from National Endowment for the Arts and Virginia Cretella Mars Foundation and the Harold J. Kaplan Foundation.

After having to pivot scheduling with guest artist Carolyn Dorfman Dance due to the pandemic, this spring the company was able to have a virtual residency. The residency is the start of a five-year project to develop a pathway from Baltimore County Public Schools to CCBC to Towson University to professional work as a dancer. The project is also focused on bringing professional dance companies with female artistic directors to work with students at CCBC, BCPS and TU. Carolyn Dorfman Dance worked virtually with CCBC and TU students on their virtual concerts. CCBC also hosted virtual master classes with BCPS students and Carolyn Dorfman Dance.

The CCBC Dance Company is known for holding mainstage performances in the fall and spring featuring choreography by CCBC faculty and various guest artists. The Company is also involved in community outreach with local schools providing special performances as well as master classes, lectures and demonstrations.
