Culture, Climate, and Conflict with Rob Swainston and Zorawar Sidhu with Lane Sell
4pm in the Small Hall
Doors open at 3:30pm
Artists and collaborators Rob Swainston and Zorawar Sidhu make large, multi-block woodcuts that take a hard look at politics, public health, and environmental concerns. They will talk about their work, their process, and a new body of work of monumental color woodcuts, which will be on view concurrently at Petzel Gallery. The conversation will be moderated by Lance Sell of Shoestring Press.
Stone Lithograph Demonstration with Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop
2–3pm in the MGC Community Print Studio (5th Fl)
Stone lithography is a traditional printmaking process that relies on the immiscibility of grease and water. In this hands-on demonstration, participants will draw on a smooth limestone surface using greasy lithographic crayons. Robert Blackburn Printmaking Studio’s printer Fiacco will guide the group through the process of preparing and etching the stone, washing away the original drawing, and inking the surface while sponging to keep the non-image areas ink-free.
