The Brooklyn Book Festival is New York City’s largest free literary event celebrating books, authors and ideas. In 2019, an array of national and international literary stars and emerging authors participated including Ted Chiang, Catana Chetwynd, Susan Choi, Edwidge Danticat, Sarah Dessen, Jonathan Safran Foer, Jenny Han, Aleksandar Hemon, Mira Jacob, Marlon James, N.K. Jemisin, Lucy Knisley, Jessica Lange, DeRay Mckesson, Bill McKibben, Mary Norris, Joyce Carol Oates, Ben Passmore, Matt Taibbi, Mo Willems, Meg Wolitzer, Nell Zink, and hundreds more. Plus nearly 250 publishers, lit mags,  and literary organizations filled the Literary Marketplace.

Each year the Festival also include a week of Bookend events presented in all five boroughs of NYC. This year we celebrate our 10th anniversary of Bookends! At our lively Children’s Day, more than 50 authors participate with a full day of author readings and performances, workshops, activities, and book signings. Some of our authors in 2019 were Nick Bruel, Jerry Craft, Vashti Harrison, Emily Jenkins, Mo Willems, and many others.
