Britt Festival Orchestra String Quartet

About the Event

Join the Britt Festival Orchestra String Quartet as we present a free performance of chamber music at Curry Public Library in Gold Beach on Sunday, January 26 at 2pm. Musicians Ignace Jang, violin; Nicola "Nicki" Payne, violin II; Karen Bea, viola; and Bridget Pasker, will be performing. Experience the music in an up-close setting and learn more about the music and composers through our interactive talk. This performance is free and open to the public.

Ignace Jang serves as concertmaster of the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra and the Britt Festival Orchestra. His playing has received praise in the United States, Europe, and Asia for its excellent sense of style, impressive musicianship, and uniquely beautiful timbre. He has also made solo appearances with the Colorado Symphony, the Versailles Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestre Provence Alpes. Since 1991 he has been part of a violin/harp duo called Equinox.

Nicola "Nicki" Payne has been a member of the Britt Festival Orchestra since 1995, and Principal Second Violin since 2003. Nicola performs with Vista Philharmonic Lexington Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, as well as many other groups in the Boston area including the Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms Society. Nicola has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, and New World Symphony. Nicola performed for seven seasons with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife, Spain.

Raised in the San Francisco area, Karen Bea began studying the piano at age five and took up the violin, viola, and French horn soon after. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Indiana University and her master’s at Carnegie Mellon in Pennsylvania, where she performed with the Pittsburgh Opera and substituted with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. During the summer Karen has performed at the Luzerne Music center in New York and the Spoleto Festival in Italy. She currently works at the Britt Music Festival in Oregon.

Cellist Bridget Pasker began her musical studies at the age of four. Originally from Dubuque, IA, she studied at the Preucil School of Music before earning her bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School. She then moved to San Francisco where she earned a master’s degree in Chamber Music and Professional Studies from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is currently the Associate Principal cellist of the Phoenix Symphony.
