The Festival Orchestra performs three popular works of the orchestral canon.
The sounds of spring will bloom when the Festival Orchestra performs three popular works of the orchestral canon. When Aaron Copland first composed his beloved Appalachian Spring, he set the work for just 13 musicians. Maestro Moody honors this original setting when joined by a baker’s dozen of leading players from the nation’s top orchestras. The concert continues with Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D Major. In the concert’s finale, joie de vivre blossoms as Gershwin’s 1920 visit to France comes alive in his jazzy An American in Paris.
PROGRAM:
COPLAND: Appalachian Spring
HAYDN: Cello Concerto in D Major
GERSHWIN: An American in Paris
