7:00 AM: Walk: Fawn Lake Trail, Lake Pleasant

Join Joan Collins and Jamie Taft on a new trip- added just this year! This relatively easy, flat trail leads to Fawn Lake, a pristine, uninhabited lake surrounded by state land. This easy trail leads to the eastern shore of the lake where there are primitive campsites. The trail is unmarked, but is very easy to follow. You may see a variety of warblers and woodpeckers.

Bring: Insect repellant, hat, sunscreen, water, lunch, binoculars and appropriate clothing/jacket and footwear.
Meet: Parking Lot across from County Courthouse to carpool
GPS WAYPOINT: N43 28.940 W74 26.645
Directions: From NY8, turn onto South Shore Road by Hamilton County Court House in Lake Pleasant. Immediately on the left is a parking area where you can park and carpool to the trail head. To the trailhead: From NY8, take Tamarack Road to its end. Then turn left onto Fawn Lake Road. Follow Fawn Lake Road to the end of the pavement, continuing .1 mile to a wide pull off.

1:00 PM: Walk: Sacandaga Pathway, Speculator

Join Joan Collins and Jamie Taft on the beautiful Sacandaga Pathway in Speculator. This 134 mile long boardWalk and path is an easily accessible trail leading you to a variety of habitats and three types of wetlands along a flat-water section of the Sacandaga River. Look for American Bitterns and Blue Herons along the eastern side of the path following the river as well as Black Ducks and Mallards. Along the path, you may also find a variety of Woodland Warblers, Woodpeckers, Red-tailed Hawks and American Kestrels.

Meet: Speculator Pavilion

Directions: The Speculator Pavilion is located on Route 30 South, the Village of Speculator. It is directly across the street from the public beach and is neighbored by the Speculator Fire Hall. There is ample parking here to Meet and then continue onto the Pathway.
