Feel isolated? Our latest webinar series featuring Adoptable Houston Pets aims to teach you how animals can help us.
Two-thirds of adults report experiencing social isolation and high levels of anxiety since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. That's according to “The Pandemic Effect: A Social Isolation Report,” a study conducted by AARP Foundation in collaboration with the United Health Foundation. Due to quarantine and social distancing, social isolation and loneliness have increased in adults since March 2020.
While loneliness is a risk factor for a variety of health and psychological problems, interacting with animals is something that helps ease loneliness and can bring comfort during stressful times. Since the start of the pandemic, animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country have seen adoption rates soar.
Join AARP and Best Friends Animal Society for a special webinar series focused on the benefits of human-pet interaction and the comfort, joy, and companionship only a furry friend can provide. Whether you have a pet and are looking to deepen your bond or this pandemic has you longing for social connection, this series may change your life. Participants will also receive a special 50% discount code to adopt a pet through Houston’s Best Friends adoption program.
