Just as families plan for a wedding, a baby or buying a home, they may want to do advance funeral planning, too. Avoiding the topic will make eventually trying to respect your wishes more difficult, and likely more expensive, for your loved ones. And many people find great meaning and peace in carrying out funeral plans that honor their loved one’s wishes.
Topics to be covered include:
- Your rights when dealing with funeral homes
- Pre-planning final arrangements vs. pre-paying for them
- Donating your organs or donating your body for medical research and training
- Your body disposition options (terramation, cremation, aquamation, burial) and creating directives about what you prefer
- Planning the ceremony you want
