Be our guest and step back in time! You’re invited to join AARP on a guided walking tour through the heart of historic downtown Leesburg. The tour starts at Loudoun Museum and weaves its way through the history and architecture of King, Cornwall and Liberty Streets.
Led by a docent from the Loudoun Museum, this special tour features unique transparent photographs of historic Leesburg. You’ll have the chance to hold up these images and witness firsthand how Leesburg has evolved and preserved its heritage over the years.
The tour is about a mile long and will take just under an hour to complete. Upon completion of the tour, guests are invited to explore Loudoun Museum’s exhibits at your leisure. A staff member will be onsite to answer questions and provide insights.
After the tour, guests are invited to partake in lunch together at Senor Ramons in Leesburg. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax and chat with fellow history enthusiasts.
Space is limited, and registration is required. The tour is free, compliments of AARP, and lunch is on your dime.
The tour will be conducted rain or shine, so please check the weather before your departure and dress accordingly.
There are two areas to park. One is paid parking in the garage next to the museum at 25 W Market St, Leesburg, VA 20176. Metered street parking is also available throughout downtown Leesburg, although it does fill up quickly. Free parking is available at the Liberty parking lot at 204 Liberty St SW, Leesburg, VA 20175. It's about two blocks from the museum.
Unfortunately, Loudoun Museum is not wheelchair accessible. The walking tour should be able to accommodate a wheelchair as it uses public sidewalks in Leesburg. Most of Leesburg's sidewalks are bricks. They are pretty even but might present a bit of a challenge for walkers or other mobility aids.
