Hear about a day in the life of a hippie during that summer of social change.
About the Event
Beginning in May of 1967, hippies flocked to New York City, heralding an age of community activism, communal living, natural foods, experimental theater, Eastern philosophy, musical expression and progressive politics. But it would all end that fall with a highly publicized murder. This is the story of Summer of Love in New York City, told through a day in the life of a once-runaway hippie.
Let's embark on a virtual journey back in time to May-October of 1967, when free-love, anti-war sentiment was on full display. Led by NYC native and tour guide Linda Fisher, who at 15 escaped from the Bronx to join the Great Easter “Be-In” in Central Park, we’ll explore NYC's hippie history.
