The Japanese tea ceremony of Urasenke is one of the most meticulous and detail-oriented tea ceremonies in the world. Although many cultures practice some type of tea ceremony, none are as intricate as this ancient Japanese tradition. The origins of this ceremony are shrouded in mystery, but it has evolved over time to become a highly respected cultural practice. The Urasenke Chanoyu Center (UCC) is a private organization established in 1967 to promote the rich cultural tea tradition of Urasenke in New York City and teach its members how to master this ancient tradition over the course of 10-15 years. Marybeth and Philip, two Tea Masters of Urasenke at the UCC, will lead a unique and relaxing virtual experience that will allow you to experience one of Japan's oldest traditional tea ceremonies from the comfort of your own home. During the virtual experience, you will learn about the history of the Japanese tea ceremony and how it has evolved over time. You will also learn how to make matcha green tea at home and cultivate mindfulness and calm through tea. Additionally, you will receive insider tips on purchasing Japanese tea and how to identify authenticity and quality. After the virtual experience, Marybeth and Philip will answer any and all questions about Urasenke and Japanese tea ceremonies, followed by a quiz to test your retention. Upon registering, you will receive an automated email containing the link to join the webinar. For the best possible viewing experience, please ensure that you are using the latest version of your internet browser. Google Chrome is the most compatible. Technical requirements and a webinar user guide will be shared in the automated confirmation email upon registration. A full replay of the experience will be available to all registered guests for up to a week.
