Making Your HomeFit You is a two part event.  Please read below to learn more about the HomeFit presentation, and as a follow up, how you can participate in a virtual tour of a Universal Design Exhibit.

HomeFit Presentation (Part 1)
AARP surveys consistently find that older adults want to remain in their current homes and communities for as long as possible. Yet barely one percent of the nation’s housing supply contains any “universal design” elements — such as single story living or a sink that can be reached from a wheelchair. That’s where AARP HomeFit comes in. Based on the free AARP HomeFit Guide, this presentation can help individuals and families make their current or future residence – or that of a loved one – their “lifelong home."

Presenter Bio:
Sara Lynn is a volunteer for AARP Arkansas’s Speakers Bureau.  Sarah has a degree in Communications and a Masters in Education.  She served as a school teacher for many years, but retired in 2012 and became a full-time realtor in central Arkansas.

As a realtor, Sarah is known for her professionalism and negotiation skills.  She is not afraid to wear many hats - from doing minor repair work, recommending qualified contractors, or serving as a mediator.  Her experience in real estate gives her a unique insight into the housing market and what people should look for when purchasing their forever homes.

She’s an active member of the Arkansas Arts Center, a member of the NLR Chamber of Commerce, and serves as Chairwoman of the Power Hour Leads group.  Of course her favorite role in the community is volunteering for AARP and offering educational programs to better the lives of Arkansans 50+.

Universal Design Exhibit Virtual Tour (Part 2)
Tour by: Vanessa Krause, LMSW, Program Director, Partners for Inclusive Communities
As a follow up to the above presentation, on Friday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m., join a LIVE virtual tour of a universally designed bathroom exhibit designed to educate the public about Universal Design and how it can translate into more usability and independence in the home.  You will join the event LIVE on March 12 at 10:00 a.m. at https://www.facebook.com/AARPArkansas/
