About the Event 

AARP Connecticut and Masonicare, a not-for-profit integrated senior care continuum, present the 5th annual Livable Communities Conference in collaboration with Central CT State University, University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University, Hartford International University for Religion and Peace and Southern CT State University. The program, which includes several presentations with Q&A and runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET, offers professional training based on the World Health Organization’s 8 Domains of Livability on how to create livable communities for everyone at any age and stage of life.     

We’ll examine the future of aging through the lens of livability by focusing also on age-friendly universities, patient education, digital inclusion of older adults and housing across the lifespan - including the realities of homelessness and eviction among the 50-plus population.  

The workshop topics are:  

  • Addressing the World Health Organization’s 8 Domains of Livability  - Erica Michalowski, AARP Connecticut, and Audrey Grove, Masonicare 
  • The Work of an Age-friendly University - Andrea June and Carrie Andreolotti, Central CT State University  
  • Redesigning the Patient Role Using the Core Method of Patient Education -   Gabby Ceccolini, Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, and Tracy Van Oss, Quinnipiac University School of Health Science  
  • Digital Inclusion of Older Adults  - Lauren Tucker, Southern CT State University; Margaret Gerundo-Murkette, CT Department of Aging & Disability Services; Arlene Lugo, CT TECH ACT Project  
  • Housing Across the Lifespan  - Anna Dorohazi, AARP CT; Alyssa Norwood, CT Age Well Collaborative; Christie Stewart, Center for Housing Opportunity; Samar Jha, AARP Livable Communities

This program is approved for (2.50) Continuing Education Units by NASW/CT and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal requirements.  This approval also applies to license renewals for CT LPCs, LMFTs, and licensed psychologists. 

This nursing continuing professional development activity is approved for 2.50 contact hours by CT Nurses Association (CNA) an approver accredited  by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  

Completion of a post-event evaluation/pre-registration required to obtain contact hours for this session.
