This tour offers a meaningful glimpse into the past and a chance to connect with the spirit of the Old West!
About the Event:
Join AARP Nevada & step into Reno’s past with a guided walking tour of Hillside Cemetery, the city’s oldest burial ground, officially established in 1875. Nestled on a scenic hillside overlooking downtown, this Victorian Garden cemetery is the final resting place of pioneers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who helped shape the Truckee Meadows region.
Led by members of the Hillside Cemetery Preservation Foundation, the tour will highlight stories of resilience, philanthropy, and frontier life. Participants will also learn about the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to restore and protect this historic site from decades of neglect and development threats. This is more than a tour—it’s a chance to connect with Reno’s roots and support a community-driven preservation mission.
