AARP Hearing Center
A collaborative walk/roll audit experience to document and collect data on infrastructure gaps/opportunities to help inform a current community planning process.
Join AARP Rhode Island for a hands-on, community-powered walking/rolling audit along Broadway in Providence. Together, we’ll explore the streetscape, identify infrastructure gaps, and gather valuable data to support an active community planning process.
This is a collaborative opportunity for residents, people with disabilities, and local advocates to share insights and help shape a more inclusive, accessible city. Broadway is in the middle of a planning process and community participation will directly help inform future infrastructure updates and the tangible changes coming.
Special guests include City Council members and planning/engineering staff from the City of Providence, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, and the Providence Streets Coalition.
Route: Approximately 1.2–1.5 miles, beginning at the southeast corner of Greene Street and Broadway. We will walk/roll on the south side of Broadway west to Knight Street. We will cross Knight and depending on our timing, walk/roll back on the north side.
Materials: Safety vests, walk audit check lists, clip boards and pens will be provided.
Your voice and perspective matter—let’s walk with purpose and advocate for better infrastructure together.
This event is part of Walktober, a month-long series of walking and rolling experiences that promote health, connection, and joy. Check out all of the Walktober happenings at: www.aarp.org/RIWalktober
