In celebration of Black History Month, we invite you to join us for an enriching, in-person experience at the Hampton History Museum. You will have the opportunity to explore the rich history of Hampton with a guided tour of the museum and gain a deeper understanding of a pivotal moment in American history with a free, interactive workshop after the tour.
Event Highlights:
- Guided Tour of the Hampton History Museum: Immerse yourself in the museum's exhibits as a knowledgeable guide leads you through the fascinating history of Hampton.
- Interactive Workshop on the 20 and Odd: This one-hour workshop delves into the arrival of the first Africans to English North America in 1619. Using period images and primary sources, we will explore where the Africans came from, how they were captured and brought to America, their arrival in Virginia and what we know about their lives once they arrived.
This event is free and open to all, but space is limited—register today to secure your spot! Registration is required for attendance.
We will also be conducting this tour on two other days in February! Each tour is led by a knowledgeable guide and will explore the same key themes, so you only need to register for one date. To register for one of the other tour dates, please click the link below:
