AARP Hearing Center
Join us for inspiring conversations with three remarkable Carver High alumnae who became community leaders, sharing their journeys of resilience and advocacy.
As part of the George Washington Carver Museum's and Cultural Center's Black History Month activities and its upcoming centennial celebration, the Arizona State Office will participate in the Community Icons Speaker Series: Conversations with the "Women of Carver." This special event will feature distinguished alumnae Ruth Ann Payne Franklin, community leader; Josephine Pete, executive director, activist, and educator; and Vera Randolph, community leader. The program will honor these esteemed African American women and illuminate their powerful journeys--beginning with their years attending George Washington Carver High School, once the only high school African Americans could attend in Phoenix. Their stories reflect the resilience, advocacy, and community impact that continue to shape the museum and cultural center it has become today.
