On Thursday, September 19th, Fort Campbell Army Base will open its gates to the public to give Vietnam Veterans a proper welcome home. This is our chance to offer our Veterans a long overdue "welcome home."

A military ceremony will be followed by refreshments.

We will start promptly at 2 p.m. CST. Please allow up to two hours to access the base and be in place for the 2 p.m. ceremony. Early time arrival is needed to process through security and drive to Hanger three (3) once on Base. Upon arrival, family and friends will enter the hanger and find their seats. The Veterans being honored will gather in a designated place.

Please be on the look out for further instructions a week prior to event. Approximately 2 p.m. the hanger doors will open and our Veterans will march in, you will hear the applause of the crowd and the sound of the Army Band.

Fort Campbell is a restricted access post. Guards at the gates conduct a 100% identification card check of all vehicle operators/passengers and pedestrians entering the installation. Visiting family and friends attending the Welcome Home Ceremony should enter through either T.C. Freeman Gate or Gate 7 (closes at 12:30pm).

  • All personnel without a valid DoD Identification card (CAC, Retired ID, and Dependent ID) and have not received an access pass will be required to stop at the Visitor Control Center, show proper identification, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration and be vetted for access prior to entry.
  • Personnel that have previously accessed Fort Campbell and have valid credentials will continue directly to the gate for access. Non US Citizens may be required to be escorted by DoD ID Card holder and sponsored in writing at the Visitor Control Center. Further information may be provided at the Visitor Control Centers.
  • Visitor Control Center T.C. Freeman Gate: 5004 Screaming Eagle Blvd. ✪ Open 5 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily. From 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. visitors will proceed to the T.C. Freeman search building
  • Visitor Control Center Gate 7: 7199 Glider Rd. ✪ Open 5 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. daily. From 12:30 - 9 p.m. daily non-commercial traffic and visitors will be routed to the T.C. Freeman Visitor Control Center.
