This will be a free 8-week academy that will begin in June 2024. Orientation will be held June 13, at 6 p.m. at the Willamalane Bob Keefer Center, 250 S. 32nd Street, Springfield, OR 97478. Sessions weekly on Thursday evenings through Aug. 1 (no sessions on July 4.) These will alternate between Zoom and in-person sessions.
Participants will:
- Learn local planning processes, principles and practices and learn how planning shapes communities.
- Learn about the key components of the Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities
- Learn about issues affecting older adults and how planning efforts can be leveraged to enact meaningful and positive change.
- Be prepared to serve on a local board or commission as a voice for people ages 50+.
No prior planning experience is required to participate in the Livable Community Leadership Academy, although professional planners are welcome. The Academy is free, but space is limited.
